Bio - La Niña at Color Fest 14 | 13 August 2026

La Niña is the solo project of the Neapolitan singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actress Carola Moccia, one of the most powerful and original voices to emerge on the Italian music scene in recent years. Winner of the Targa Tenco 2025 such as Best album in dialect with the disc Furèsta, La Niña has been able to build a unique artistic universe, capable of bringing together traditional Neapolitan music with contemporary and international sounds, from UK bass to reggaeton, from tammurriata to deconstructed club, passing through Mediterranean pop and baroque atmospheres. Defined by Rolling Stone Italia as a hybrid between Teresa De Sio and Rosalía, La Niña is today one of the Italian artists most appreciated by critics and the public, the protagonist of a path that interweaves music, theatre, cinema and performing arts.

The origins: Naples, the guitar and studies

Carola Moccia was born in Naples on 10 July 1991 and grew up in San Giorgio a Cremano, in a family deeply attached to art: her father is a musician, her mother an artist. She began playing the guitar as a child and writing her first songs at a very young age. After graduating from scientific high school, she graduated with honours in Philosophy and History at the Federico II University in Naples. After moving to Milan to devote herself entirely to music, she obtained a master's degree in Music Communication at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart. Already during his university years he collaborated with artists such as Jovine of the 99 Posse e Roberto Angelini, which made his television debut in the programme Gazebo.

Yombe and beginnings: from electro-pop duo to solo career

In 2014, in Naples, Carola met the musician and producer Alfredo Maddaluno (aka KWSK Ninja), who would become his main artistic collaborator and life partner. In 2015, the two founded the Milan-based electro-pop duo Yombe, with which they released the eponymous EP (2016) and the album Goood (2017, Carosello Records), performing at festivals and clubs in Italy and abroad, including as an opening act for Ghemon and Little Dragon. At the end of their contract with Carosello, in 2018, Yombe broke up: Carola and Alfredo returned to Naples, abandoned English and embraced the Neapolitan dialect as the elective language for the new artistic phase.

The birth of La Niña: the first singles and the EP Eden

In 2019, Carola Moccia officially launches her solo project La Niña with the first three singles - Cross, No More e Salome - published by La Tempesta Dischi. Songs that mark the beginning of a visionary journey, in which the tradition of classic Neapolitan song is reworked through an urban and experimental attitude. The critics welcomed her enthusiastically, identifying in her an unprecedented proposal on the Italian scene. In 2020 she makes her debut on Sony Music with the single Fortune. In 2021, the EP Eden, experimenting between house, urban trap and Campanian dialect, and in the same year the single exploded “YOU” with Franco Ricciardi, quickly reaching 17 million views on YouTube, bringing La Niña to the attention of the general public.

Vanitas (2023): the debut album and the film world

On 24 March 2023 Vanitas, La Niña's first studio album, released via Columbia/Sony Music Italy with production and art direction by KWSK Ninja. Consisting of eight previously unreleased tracks, the album is an intimate and ambitious work that mixes Neapolitan songs, UK bass, reggaeton rhythms and Mediterranean atmospheres. Critics welcomed it positively, recognising the artistic maturity of a project that blends tradition and contemporaneity with rare authenticity. Among the artist's stated inspirations: Pino Daniele, Carmen Consoli, FKA Twigs, Caroline Polachek e Sevdaliza.

In the same year La Niña debuted as actress in the television series The voice inside you, created and performed by Massimo Ranieri and broadcast on Channel 5, where she plays the role of the aspiring singer Regina and takes care of part of the soundtrack. It also collaborates with Amazon Music for the musical The Night of the Lumere and with Rai 2 for the show Bar Stella. 2023 is also the year of important musical collaborations with artists such as Peppe Barra, Myss Keta, Tosca, Gemitaiz, Clementino and the British singer Mysie.

Sanremo 2024 and the signing with BMG

On 9 February 2024, La Niña took the stage at the 74th Sanremo Festival on the covers night, performing alongside BigMama, Gaia e Sissi in an all-female version of “Lady Marmalade”, enriched by a verse in Neapolitan. The performance is among the most appreciated of the entire edition and further amplifies the artist's visibility on a national level. In February 2024, La Niña announces the signing with BMG Italy, marking the beginning of a new recording chapter.

Furèsta (2025): the triumph and the Targa Tenco

On 21 March 2025, BMG releases Furèsta, La Niña's second studio album: a choral and wild work, entirely in Neapolitan dialect, rooted in the Neapolitan popular music - from villanella to tammurriata - blending it with contemporary elements and Mediterranean openings. The disc, consisting of ten unreleased tracks, is entirely written, composed and produced by La Niña and Alfredo Maddaluno, with the participation of the Egyptian-Iranian singer Kukii and the Egyptian artist Abdullah Miniawy. The cover is signed by the painter Ciro Morrone.

The single “Daughter of the Storm’ became a viral phenomenon and established itself as the soundtrack of feminist demonstrations in Italy. The track “Guapparìa” deals with the theme of organised crime and its impact on the city of Naples. In July 2025, Furèsta wins the Targa Tenco in the category “Best album in dialect” and the Lunezia Elite Prize, consecrating La Niña as one of the most relevant artists on the contemporary Italian music scene.

Promotion of the album led her to perform at the Etro Spring Summer 2026 fashion show and in presentations at the Museo d'arte contemporanea Donnaregina in Naples and Officina Pasolini in Rome. The Furèsta Europa Tour, produced by OTR Live, toured major clubs and theatres in Italy, Germany, Belgium, the UK, Spain and France, with La Niña and Maddaluno accompanied on stage by classical guitar, beating guitar, frame drums, castanets, harpsichord, keyboards, mandolin, percussion, maracas, drums and flute.
