1. Riviera dei Tramonti - Lungomare Falcone e Borsellino (the festival beach)

It is the festival beach, and can be reached on foot from the concert area. Clear sand, open sea on the Tyrrhenian Sea and long sunsets that set the horizon ablaze: this is exactly why the Colour Fest chose this name. On a clear day, looking north-west, one can glimpse the profile of the Aeolian Islands, with the Stromboli smoking in the distance. 2. Gizzeria Lido and Marina di Gizzeria

A few minutes from the festival, Gizzeria Lido is an expanse of fine white sand bathed by a sea that turns deep blue. It is internationally recognised as one of the European capitals of the kitesurfing and the windsurfingConstant thermal winds from the north-west fill the sky in summer with colourful sails and make the atmosphere young and international. Excellent for both those who just want to lie in the sun and those looking for a bit of an adrenaline rush. Travel time: approx. 10 minutes by car from the stage.
3. Falerna Marina and Nocera Terinese

Climbing northwards, Falerna Marina e Nocera Terinese offer a wide and welcoming coastline with sand mixed with fine gravel and a well-kept promenade, ideal for evening strolls. Much of this stretch of coastline is made up of free beach: huge expanses where you can plant your beach umbrella carefree and enjoy the sound of the waves. It is also one of the best places in the area for sunsets, with the sun sinking into the horizon silhouetting the Aeolian and the Stromboli. A good alternative for warmer afternoons, away from the crowds. Distance: approx. 15-20 minutes by car.
4. Pizzo Calabro
About 35 minutes southwards, Lace is one of the most scenic villages in the Calabriawide beaches at the foot of the Murat Castle - the Aragonese fortress overlooking the sea where he was imprisoned and shot Joachim Murat, Napoleon's brother-in-law and King of Naples - alleyways full of historic ice cream parlours and the iconic little church of Piedigrotta dug into the tuff. 5. Tropea
About 1 hour towards the south-west, Tropea is the postcard of the Calabria in the world. La Rotunda Beach, at the foot of the old town and dominated by the Shrine of Santa Maria dell'Isola - an ancient monastery perched on a rocky outcrop and connected to the mainland by a tongue of sand - is one of the most photographed sights in Italy. Fine sand, transparent water and the houses hanging on the cliff behind: it is worth the diversions if only for the view. Practical tip: go at dawn or late afternoon to avoid the August crowds.
6. Capo Vaticano
Immediately after Tropea, on the Coast of the Gods, Capo Vaticano is regularly listed in international rankings as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. La Grotticelle Bay, with its white sand and turquoise water, is nicknamed i Calabrian Caribbean; spectacular creeks such as the Tone Beach, deep blue waters framed by rock, and Praia i Focu (Praia del Fuoco), a handkerchief of light-coloured sand squeezed between high cliffs. 7. Caminia and the Orange Coast (Ionian side)
For those who have a full day, it is worth crossing the region and looking at the other coast. Caminia, in the municipality of Stalettì, is the iconic beach of the Orange Coasta bay almost a kilometre long, a sort of lagoon protected from the winds and enclosed by white granite cliffs, with crystal-clear water and perfect seabed for snorkelling. Not far away, Copanello e Pietragrande complete this enchanting corner of Calabria Ionian, where the sea is deeper and the atmosphere is the wild one of sheer cliffs.
