Apparat at Color Fest 14: The Berlin sound comes to Calabria
L’11 August 2026 the Colour Fest 14 opens its 14th edition with one of the most respected names in contemporary European electronics: Apparat live at Colour Fest 2026. Century Sascha Ring (Quedlinburg, 27 June 1978), Berliner by adoption since 1997, brings his concert to the Riviera of Sunsets, in front of the sea of Lamezia Terme (CZ), to inaugurate the Day 1 on Falcone and Borsellino promenade. A perfect season debut for the festival's claim, Summer on a Solitary Beach.
Who is Apparat
Producer, multi-instrumentalist and composer, Apparat is one of the key figures of the Berlin electronic scene of the last 20 years. Its history starts around the label Shitkatapult, founded by Marco Haas, which Ring was co-owner for a long time before signing for the historic Mute Records at 2011. It is in that catalogue that he publishes records that have become milestones: “Walls” (2007), “The Devil's Walk” (2011) e “LP5” (2019), the latter appointed to the Grammy 2020 as Best Dance/Electronic Album and awarded by IMPALA as European Independent Album of the Year.
The general public knows him even without knowing it: his “Goodbye” with Soap&Skin is the initial initials of Dark, the cult Netflix series of 2017. And then there is the collective chapter: together with the Modeselektor, Ring is half of Moderat, one of the most cinematic electronic live performances of the decade, with albums in the 2009, 2013, 2016 and the last “MORE D4TA” at 2022.
“A Hum of Maybe”, the new album from 2026
The concert at Colour Fest 14 comes at the hottest moment in the recent career of Apparat. The 20 February 2026 came out for Mute his sixth studio album, “A Hum of Maybe”the first solo album after seven years of silence since the release of “LP5”. Born from hundreds of sound sketches produced over six months in the 2025, is a work that fuses electronic production and almost chamber-like writing, made up of meticulous textures, warm instrumentation and a constant emotional shift.
The most important news for concert goers is that “A Hum of Maybe” began as a record of band. Ring built it with its historical musicians - Philipp Johann Thimm (cello, piano, guitar), Christoph “Mäckie” Hamann (violin, keyboards, bass), Jörg Wähner (drums) and Christian Kohlhaas (trombone) - the same ones who accompany him on the European tour that started in January and runs through the summer 2026. The Colour Fest fits exactly into this live cycle: in Lamezia, not a DJ, but a electronic concert to all intents and purposes, with strings, horns, drums and live vocals.
