Anna and Vulkan is the musical project of Anna Scassilloa multifaceted artist born in 1996 in Torre Annunziata, in the province of Naples. Growing up in an environment rich in musical stimuli thanks to her musician and composer father, Anna developed a deep connection with music from an early age. During car trips with her family, the notes of Lucio Dalla, Pino Daniele and Michel Petrucciani accompanied her childhood, influencing her musical taste and artistic sensibility.
The stage name 'Anna and Vulkan' is a tribute to Vesuvius, the volcano that dominates the landscape of her hometown and is a constant symbol of homecoming for her.
Anna's musical journey began at the age of 15, when, self-taught, she learned to play the drums, one of the few absent instruments in her home. Later she also took up the guitar and piano, composing her first songs. He formed the band Sonder, in which he played the dual role of drummer and singer, experiencing his first live performances and producing the EP 'Come ti senti' recorded in the hall of his house.
After high school, Anna moved to Trieste to study at the Interpreters School, deepening her passion for languages and linguistics. After finishing her studies, she moved to Vienna, where she worked as a Brand Designer and continued her musical activity, playing as a drummer in a new project. It was in the Austrian capital that Anna rediscovered her love for Italian music and began to write and produce her own songs, playing guitar, drums, bass and keyboards. Her eclecticism led her to explore a wide range of musical genres, from italodisco to reggaeton, through more intimate sounds to jazz and indie pop.
In November 2023, Anna released her debut single 'Comm'è' on the Milanese label Pluggers. The track, characterised by disco-funk influences and the bass contribution of Bruno Belissimo, includes a guitar solo that pays homage to Pino Daniele's 'Yes I know my way'. "Comm'è" deals with the theme of the fear of admitting defeat and the consequent turning away from something only to realise that doing without it is impossible.
In January 2024, Anna released the single 'Scurò', a voice and guitar ballad reminiscent of Pino Daniele and Roberto Murolo. The song tells of an impending farewell between two people, with the hope of not being forgotten.
Anna and Vulkan's music is characterised by the fusion of retro electronic sounds with acoustic instruments, creating dreamlike and engaging atmospheres. Her ability to range between different genres and to sing in several languages, including Italian, Neapolitan and French, allows her to reach a diverse and international audience.
Currently, Anna continues to work on new tracks, with the aim of consolidating her presence in the Italian and international music scene. Her music is available on Spotify, YouTube and all major digital platforms. To keep up to date with her new releases, concerts and collaborations, you can follow her on Instagram.
