The Murder Capital is an Irish post-punk band formed in Dublin in 2018. Consisting of James McGovern (vocals), Damien Tuit (guitar), Cathal Roper (guitar), Gabriel Paschal Blake (bass) and Diarmuid Brennan (drums), their music is characterised by dark and intense atmospheres, with lyrics that address themes of vulnerability, introspection and emotional turmoil. ​

Their debut album, When I Have Fears, released on 16 August 2019 and produced by Flood, received wide critical acclaim for its emotional depth and powerful execution. This work consolidated their reputation in the international post-punk scene.

In 2023, the band released their second album, Gigi's Recoveryshowing a maturation in their sound and incorporating new influences and sonic experimentation. This album further strengthened their position in the contemporary music scene.​

Their third album is scheduled to be released on 21 February 2025, Blindnesswhich was eagerly awaited by fans and critics alike. This new work promises to further explore their artistic capabilities and offer new sonic perspectives.​ The Murder Capital is renowned for its live performances full of energy and intensity, which have helped to build a solid fan base.
